MT Dance/Ballet II (Grades 6-10)

This course is designed for students studying dance with the goal of becoming musical theater performers.  Ballet will focus on solidifying students’ technique and vocabulary while preparing students for more complex steps and greater movement combinations while understanding the importance of artistry and musicality within their dance. A strong ballet foundation is crucial to any student wishing to pursue a career in Musical Theatre. In MT Dance, students will warm up, work on more complex across the floor exercises and learn combinations from the Musical Theatre repertoire while working on learning choreography quickly, implementing technique and storytelling into each new combination.

Ages: Grades 6-10

Required Materials: Girls: Ballet slippers, leotard and tights (strongly preferred) or form fitting athletic wear, hair up. For MT Dance: form fitting athletic wear, hair up. Boys: ballet Slippers, black dance tights or black athletic pants, white shirt, jazz shoe or gym sneaker. 

Prerequisite: 3+ years of consistent dance training or with faculty approval
